Single Mom Life: My Story Did Not End

Since having my son, I never imagined my life would lead me to where I am now. I never thought I'd have to raise my son alone without his father's support, who has passed away. However, I am now solely responsible for raising my son. Being a single mom does not define who I am.

Back in 2015, my entire identity revolved around being a mother and being in a committed relationship. It was difficult for me to see myself as anything beyond those roles. However, when the relationship ended, I felt the only things left defining me were my job title and my role as a mother. If someone asked me who I was, I would have responded with my professional title and being a mom.

In 2022, I decided to hire a life coach to help me find my true identity. In our first meeting, my life coach posed the question, "Who are you?" Initially, I responded with a list of my job titles, but she explained that she was seeking to understand my inner self. This left me feeling uncertain and unable to respond. It became clear that I needed to delve deeper into discovering my true self.

My identity goes beyond my role as a mother. I am not defined by my child's accomplishments or any romantic relationship I may have. Being a mom does not mark the end of my personal identity or life, nor will a new relationship.

Taisha, the mom, did not go back to school, despite someone telling her she could not do it or that she was nothing. Taisha, who thirsts for knowledge and wants to advance in what she loves, returned to school. Taisha, the mom, did not learn how to do crafts and learn to sew. Taisha, the creator and the designer decided to do those things.

It's important to remember that being a mom is not your only defining characteristic. You are still an individual before entering motherhood, and your life continues beyond it.

I have a deep love for my son, but my life is not solely focused on him. Instead, we have formed a partnership where we accept and appreciate each other's true selves. We enjoy traveling and watching movies together, and we both learn from one another. He has become my little companion, and I am honored to guide him on his life journey.
